Morning S.A.V.E.R.S. – Part 1

Living in the world of “snooze” buttons, it is very common for us trying to maximum our time in bed and only waking up at the very last minute, I can certainly understand it is not easy to embrace the concept of Morning S.A.V.E.R.S. We at DoorInvestor do not require our team members to religiously practice this morning routine, but I personally have found it insightful and want to share this concept with our readers.

I first came across this concept when listening to the BiggerPockets podcast with Hal Elrod, the author of The Miracle Morning (you may listen it here), and later on decide to purchase the book myself to further refine my interpretation. The concept is extremely simple, wake up early because that is the quiet moment in which you can have 100% focus and dedication to your own success. By doing that, you can get a head start of your day, before other things in life kick in (like family waking up, boss’ emails flooding in… etc).

The way to practice Hal Elrod’s morning routine is very catchy. He called this the “Morning S.A.V.E.R.S.” Here is a quick explanation on what each letter represents:

  • S – Silence
  • A – Affirmation
  • V – Visualization
  • E – Exercise
  • R – Read
  • S – Scribe

The beauty about the morning savers is that you do not need to spend a lot of time, based on your situation, you may elect to spend 5 minutes on each, or perhaps 10 minutes max on each. Of course, if you find this routine extremely helpful, it is possible to scale up to 15 minutes or even 30 minutes each. But based on my own personal experience, you should not spend more than 60 minutes total to complete all 6 routines.

In Part 2 of this blog series, we will go more in depth on each category and provide real life examples on how to practice it. I highly recommend you get the book by Hal Elrod and read in full content about The Miracle Morning.
